Hey, I was looking around and I didnt see if this question has been answered, sorry if it has! I’ve had dreads formed from twist and rip for a little over a year now and recently I noticed I have thinning hair and a bald spot, and I don’t want it to get worse, so I’ve switched my diet to a healthier one and I’ve read that Jojoba oil on your scalp is good for hair growth, but I also read it can go rancid. Would it be okay to use it once a week if i washed it out really well?

In my experience, jojoba oil does not go rancid on the head, even when left there for weeks at a time. So you’ll be just fine!

However, jojoba oil cannot and does not make hair grow. Products—including oils—don’t really have anything to do with hair growth. Hair growth is primarily a hormonal process, so topical treatments tend not to do much.

The hormones involved with hair growth can change with age, diet, environment, and stress levels.
