Can you still brush out dreads that have been interlocked at the roots for maintenance?? I don’t know if I heard somewhere that you can’t, but for some reason I’m worried I won’t be able to. Is this true?

Hello there,

While you typically cannot undo interlocking once it’s done (as in, your locks will stay interlocked until you decide to remove them), you CAN brush out interlocked bits of hair.

In fact, sisterlocks are maintained with interlocking, and someone once wrote in a forum that she picked out 400 of her sisterlocks to go back to brushable hair! Talk about dedication!

But it is one example of someone who has indeed undone their interlocked hair.

There is no reason you shouldn’t be able to undo interlocked hair someday when you brush your locks out. 🙂
